Jannecke Lønne Christiansen, visual artist. Lillehammer, NORWAY.

The first artist from Norway is Jannecke is a visual artist living and working in Lillehammer in Norway.

She teaches art at Nansenskolen and in her own practice she work with painting, photography, site-specific, artist books, and cyanotype.

”Our time is a time of transition, from - Holocene to Anthropocene, a time where man has taken over the planet in such degree that the nature is failng to repair itself. We experience loss in biodiversity, climate change, and increasing impoverishment of the earth. Our poverty is caused by mans greed. We need to be more aware of our nature, our surroundings, our humanity, and in this we need to be honest and skinless.”

She has worked with artist books on the above themes. Her work - both text and pictures - is trying to depict the beauty in nature that we sadly are about to lose. The work show melting ice, flowers, men in nature, and human being as a part of nature. With her pictures she is trying to make a new affiliation with nature.

In the photographic technique cyanotype, she uses photograms and negatives. She alters the chemistry with water, soap, citric, and colors made of plants, so it becomes a combination of photography, alchemy, and painting. She also works with cyanotypes in books, as sculptural objects, and on paper and textiles. ”I see the technique as a playground for change.”
