Eleni Philippou is an emerging cyanotype artist, fascinated by its history and creative uses.
She has worked as a photographer for numerous years capturing events and photo content for magazine articles she writes. The cyanotype method is her first relationship with an analog photography process. She is a writer and a journaling enthusiast and in her latest cyanotype project, she has introduced text into her blueprints as a way to blend her two passions.
For her, the process of cyanotype printing is a meditative one – from collecting plants and flowers from her neighborhood to paint-brushing and water-rinsing. Having lived in Spain, the UK, and Panama, her influences are multicultural, and as a curious creative her artistic expression has developed through the years. Her sunny home of Cyprus, where she is based, is always a source of inspiration, as is island life, memories, and social movements. Through participation in pop-up craft markets and most recently, the running of seasonal cyanotype workshops, she is introducing this ancient photographic process to more people as a way to reconnect with nature and the handicraft process.
